Smart construction meets pioneering education

Project overview
A state-of-the-art training and continuing education center with its own smart factory was built on the TRUMPF factory premises in Ditzingen.
The three-storey building with a gross floor area of 3,720 m² in sustainable hybrid construction combines energy-efficient architecture with an innovative learning environment. The hexagonal structure creates open, light-filled spaces for up to 400 people.
While training workshops are grouped around a central auditorium on the ground floor, the upper floors offer modern group and meeting rooms.
The load-bearing structure combines prefabricated wood panel elements with a wood-concrete composite ceiling, which makes optimal use of ecological and static advantages. A PV system combined with environmental heat ensures a sustainable energy supply.
Achieve success with digital cycle planning
With over 30 trades involved, close coordination between the project partners was essential.
Thanks to digital construction coordination in the lcmd construction software, interfaces could seamlessly interlock and potential faults could be identified at an early stage. lcmd served as a central planning and communication hub, in which construction progress was documented and planning changes and material deliveries were visible to all parties involved in real time.
The combination of lean construction management in the form of cycle planning and digital planning itself ensured efficient control of the entire construction process and made a significant contribution to timely completion.
