Project overview

Acumen Consulting, a renowned lean management consultancy, supported Laing O'Rourke in a complex data center project in Abu Dhabi. The project, with a total

volume of around 120 million euros, is in its first phase and is scheduled for completion by April 2025. Laing O'Rourke is the general contractor responsible for the construction work.

Project challenges:

The complexity of the project required precise structuring and control. The application of the Last Planner method required a detailed division into numerous cycle areas. Acumen Consulting undertook the process analysis and milestone planning in close coordination with the general contractor.

The initial control was carried out by weekly 4-week previews and analogous weekly planning, while the data was continuously updated in lcmd. In parallel, the P6 schedule was adjusted weekly for client reporting. Daily coordination with site management and the contractors ensured compliance with KPIs and effective process control.

Introduction of lcmd:

The integration of lcmd marked a decisive step forward in project management. The Acumen Consulting team was fully trained to utilize the full potential of the software. The seamless transfer of the project structure and milestones into lcmd enabled increased transparency and improved planning accuracy.

Added value through lcmd:

lcmd brought significant improvements: The user-friendly interface simplified the creation and analysis of process plans, which increased the efficiency of the entire project team. The immediate recording and evaluation of reasons for disruptions made it possible to identify bottlenecks at an early stage and contributed to schedule reliability. Considerations to control the daily meetings directly via the lcmd planning board in the future underline the efforts to further reduce manual effort and optimize project control.

The introduction of lcmd enabled Acumen Consulting to significantly improve transparency and efficiency in project management and to strengthen collaboration between all parties involved in the long term.
